We have had a great start to our new school year! Each year the student body officers, along with staff, select a theme for the year. This year's theme is ..."The humility to serve, integrity to act, courage to stand, and compassion to love through unity in Christ." Romans 12:12-13 are the verses they have used as the base. As we train leaders, we know that humbleness, integrity, courage, and compassion are traits that are important to have. Pray for your student this year as they study, learn and grow in the Lord Jesus. Our vision is to see our students become adults who are leaders in their families, careers, churches, their communities, and the world, living out righteous lives in the culture. We are thrilled that parents like you are committed to Christian education and that even in difficult days you believe in its extreme value. Your faithfulness to support the school through tuition, gifts, and prayer have sustained us these last months. Continue to pray with us as we have made adjustments in our budgets to compensate for the freeze in tuition and the income shortfall from last school year. We are excited about how our staff has rallied behind our efforts to meet the needs of students and to assist you and your families.

Our numbers are up at all schools! Grace Christian Elementary has 415 students showing a reflection of our new three year old pre-school classes that we opened this fall. The middle school has 213 students and we continue to get inquiries about openings. Cascade Christian High School has 349 enrolled as of the first Friday of the school year and that is up over last spring by 10 students. We have 977 students learning about Jesus each week in our schools!

Watch for an important new addition to our school in the way of technology. We will soon be unveiling the wonders of our Cascade Christian Online Academy to families. This exciting "Virtual School" will allow families out of our area to join our school. We also hope to offer classes online to those needing to make up credits. We will have more information about this in the coming days.

We are thrilled to announce that our schools have been awarded the Medford/Rogue Valley Chamber of Commerce "2009 Outstanding Corporate Citizen, not-for profit" award. This honor was given to us because of our business practices, care of employees, and giving to the community. Our sports programs and student mission outreaches were noted as contributing to the needs of others. We also were commended for our high school students' contribution to the Bear Creek clean up and greenway care. The award was given on September 10th at the annual awards ceremony at the Rogue Valley Country Club. I was honored to be able to accept the award on behalf of our 105 dedicated staff members.

We look forward to many more opportunities for our students to show their leadership this school year. Keep praying and trusting God as we raise up the next generation as unto the Lord!
